Spring / Summer 2004

-- > ONE BIG MAP

I spent months working on a single large project over the winter. See a small section of the results here:

--> ROYATLY -FREE COLLECTIONS

The "hell froze over" part of the newsblip: I'm selling a small selection of artwork as RF collections

Confused about why I did this? Wondering about my mental health? I've posted an overview here:

Gasp. Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo, and it's delightful. It's a cultural hub 2.5 hours from either Chicago or Detroit. Birthplace of Checker Cab Co., Gibson Guitars, Shakespeare fishing rod and reels and Upjohn. Home of Western Michigan University, it has many lovely older neighborhoods, and a reviving downtown.

--> GOOGLE TIPS

These little known Google capabilities have been helpful to me:

Area code search.
Wonder where that funky telephone area code is? Enter a 3-digit prefix and the first result shown is a map of the area code.

Zip code search:
Enter the 5-digit number and the first result is a map of the zip code location.

FedEx and UPS tracking numbers:
Enter your tracking number and the first result is a tracking page at the correct carrier.

Other than that, I find TEOMA to be a more reliable search engine.

--> MORE CRAFTY FUN

I went to SURTEX in May. It's a trade show for surface and textile designers, who make the images that adorn everything from wallpaper to paper plates. It runs concurrently with the Stationery Show and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. At the ICFF, I saw a sweet display by FunQuilts. Their homey, colorful display stood out amongst the contemporary black and white flatness.
